Michael D. Peroo, CPA, PA (MDP) was founded in 1999 with 8 staff members and two locations. Providing a high level of expertise to various industries is at the core of our practice. Every 3 years, our firm goes through a quality control audit to determine if our audits are meeting standards and compliance. MICHAEL D. PEROO
CPA, PA, OWNER/PRESIDENT
Mike is the owner and President of MDP, CPA. He began his career in 1986 as an auditor for Laventhol and Horwath. In 1991, he became a partner with Acord Cox & Company. In 1992, Mike recognized the needs of municipalities and water districts in the State of Kansas. As a result, Mike developed software that integrated accounting and utility billing with enhanced reporting capabilities. Mike became a national speaker for water districts and municipalities which included: how to set utility rates; understand your financial statements; what are your funding options, etc. Mike has authored and published books on the financial reporting of the utility industry. Mike has become the go-to person on matters related to water districts and municipalities from operating the office to set utility rates. In addition, Mike has expertise working with manufacturing and distribution businesses. Mike has worked extensively in developing software for the manufacturing industry. Mike has served as a CFO for various companies, guiding those companies through the acquisition and selling of businesses.
Mike received his Master's degree in Taxation in 2012 from the University of Tulsa. In 1986, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Kansas Wesleyan University.
Mike recently earned the Retirement Income Certified Professional® (RICP®) designation through The American College of Financial Services, expanding the firm’s retirement income planning capabilities. This specialized training strengthens his ability to help clients transition from wealth accumulation to sustainable, tax-efficient retirement income strategies.
As the firm's president, Mike has high expectations of himself as well as the employees. He believes that our clients' needs are the top priority and encourages the rest of the firm to give their very best to each and every client.
During his free time, Mike enjoys spending time studying taxes, financing, and accounting. If Mike is not studying he is training his twins for football and weightlifting competition. Mike also is an avid sports fan watching high school, college, and professional football. He will be attending Washburn football games as his son Ryan will be playing football beginning this fall. His other son Nathan will be studying accounting at Emporia State. Mike is from Osage City, Kansas but currently resides in Olathe with his wife Michele.

DEANA KINCADE
SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT
Deana, our Senior Staff Accountant, does a variety of work for our clients.
She has over 20 years of experience preparing financial statements, bank reconciliations, payroll and sales tax returns, and preparation of individual, partnership, and corporate income tax returns.
Her interests and hobbies include traveling, attending rodeos, and helping animals.

THERESA HANNIGAN
FIRM ADMINISTRATOR
Theresa assists with the preparation of audits and special projects, as well as handling the day-to-day administration of the firm.
She has been with the firm for 11 years, including her work for the CPA from whom Mike purchased the Leavenworth office. Her 30 years of experience in the finance and accounting field has made her the firm's jack-of-all-trades.
In her spare time, she is studying to become a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and to take the Enrolled Agent exam.
When she is not working to help clients, she enjoys working outside and spending time with family, which includes a granddaughter and two grandsons.

TONG SANTEE
ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATE
Tong is the accounting associate in the Atchison office. She was born in 1971 in China where she obtained an associate's degree in Accounting from Qinhai College. After graduation, Tong went to work for the Bank of China, keeping accounts.
In 1996, Tong went to stay with her sister in Shanghai, China. There, she met her future husband, an American working in China, and she stayed in Shanghai to be with him.
Tong came with her husband to the United States in 1999 and earned her United States citizenship in 2001. In 2005, she graduated from UMKC and then moved with her husband to Atchison, where she became employed by the firm.
In her free time, Tong dotes on her two dogs, Gaogu, a Lab mix, and Mei Mei, a Papillion Terrier.
